Milking “good cow” the cow at the Factor e Farm.
At the end of September, I flew out to Missouri to photograph the Factor e Farm which is the brainchild of Marcin Jakubowski, a polish board nuclear fusion physicist. After finishing his doctorate, Jakubowski decided he was “useless” to society and bought a plot of land in rural Missouri. There, he started what he has dubbed the Factor e Farm. He’s trying to build a set of 50 open source tools that he thinks will creative a “blueprint” for humanity. Full edit here. Shot for Bloomberg businessweek. See Marcin’s TED talk here.
Major Richard Pantusa in a c-130 converted into an air tanker to fight forest fires. Full edit here. Shot for my favorite biz mag, Bloomberg Businessweek.
Pilot Aldo Leonardi in his single engine air tanker in Boise Idaho. Full edit here.
For those of you who don’t live in the West, it has been a crapshow of a fire season so far out here. A super dry winter and sustained heat have made for crazy conditions all over. I drove up to Boise, Idaho on Sunday night to photograph the mixture of private and military fire tankers at the National Inter Agency Fire Center Businesweek. It was super cool to see the planes and talk to the pilots. Several planes have crashed in the last couple years, raising questions about the danger and cost of using planes to put out fires. Sheep, Paonia Colorado for Bloomberg Businessweek.
Berkely Geddes for Bloomberg Business Week.
I have been wanting to work for Business Week for a long time now. For a business magazine, they have some awesome art direction going on. I wasn’t let down. I was essentially told not to do something boring. Berkley was an incredibly nice man and the only problem I had was getting him to stop talking long enough to shoot a photo. Here he is, mid lecture.
