This story was super duper fun to work on. I love it when the edit I end up putting up on my website is essentially the exact same edit I sent to the client give or take a few photos. Perfect overlapping of personal vision and editorial practical realities doesn’t happen too often and when it does, it tastes so so sweet.

For those of you who don’t live in the West, it has been a crapshow of a fire season so far out here. A super dry winter and sustained heat have made for crazy conditions all over. I drove up to Boise, Idaho on Sunday night to photograph the mixture of private and military fire tankers at the National Inter Agency Fire Center Businesweek. It was super cool to see the planes and talk to the pilots. Several planes have crashed in the last couple years, raising questions about the danger and cost of using planes to put out fires.
