Volunteers lather my dad with sunscreen in the transition area before the marathon section of the Memorial Herman Texas Iron Man. See the rest of the project here.
I have a new project about my old man doing the Memorial Hermann Texas Iron Man race a couple weeks ago. I’m super proud of him and this project. Holler!
Berkely Geddes for Bloomberg Business Week.
I have been wanting to work for Business Week for a long time now. For a business magazine, they have some awesome art direction going on. I wasn’t let down. I was essentially told not to do something boring. Berkley was an incredibly nice man and the only problem I had was getting him to stop talking long enough to shoot a photo. Here he is, mid lecture.
Mack Smith for the WSJ. for this story.
Mack Smith for the Wall Street Journal.
I worked on an interesting story for the WSJ about how a lot of younger people are forgoing a college education these days even though their parents are college educated. I shot this story a few weeks ago and it was supposed to run that weekend and then it just never showed up. That’s always scary as a photographer, you start wondering if they hated the photos or something. Have I mentioned how much I love shooting portraits? Most people don’t get to have a super intimate experience with a total stranger 5 minutes after meeting them.
Winston doing his “pouty” and “stoic” looks for the camera. I’m actually looking to make the jump into pet photography…
Bulldogs are the funniest/grossest things in the world.
6 tiny people on 6 tiny dirt bikes.
I shot a quick feature for a local paper at a dirt bike track today. I had the shot they needed 4 minutes after getting there and I wanted to head home and veg out but I have really been pushing myself to stop compartmentalizing shoots and always try to come away with something for myself. I decided to experiment with a new flash I got. I thought this was kind of a funny way to isolate all of the riders.
